Expressions Ballet Academy presented display of nothing but beauty, elegance and grace. EBA encourages each performer’s passion and love for dance and every audience member could see that in them as they performed, making the show even more memorable and spectacular to watch.

Amy Louise Artist Statement:
‘My parents often remind me of a statement I made when I was three: “I’m going to be an artist.” Since then my passion for the arts has continually grown.

Jewellery has become my chosen art form because of its interaction with the human body. It is a statement of both the artist and the person wearing it. I am fascinated by the relationship between simplicity and intricacy. Used together they create a balanced tension that draws you into the piece. I derive simple shapes from nature and combine this with feminine details of pattern and texture.’

—My job as an artist in a different field is to capture all my client wants and works for in a piece, while adding my own knowledge and artistic flare to create eye catching images.

Cats

In 2009 Footlight Productions presented CATS to Geelong.

I was very privileged to be cast as Victoria and then even more privileged to be asked to do all production photography for the show. From two months out of opening night the Promotion photography began. Then in the leading weeks up to the show, the local newspapers used about 10 different images on multiple occasions.

The show was a joy to do. Working with the masterful designs of Bevan Vahland (costume) and Penni Nash- Gilchrist (hair and make-up) the photography was easy as all the amazing artistry was right there in front of me.

Footlight Productions’ Cats is one of my greatest theatre show experiences and it is something I could never ever forget.

Artificial Wedding Flowers

Cabaret Show

GMCC’s ‘Cabaret’ was my first experience of live onstage photography and I had a ball. As it is a very dark show, the lighting (Shane Haugh) was perfectly done to support and create the atmosphere. At times this created a challenge for me, however if it wasn’t for the wonderful lighting I wouldn’t have the results I do.

Infants

Ever since I was in school I found babies and infants truly spectacular to photograph. All you need is a little bit of patience to let the baby get to know you and get comfortable, then just capture them just as they are.

I know children, especially young ones, can be strongly effected by their surroundings. That, to get them truly natural you need to be where they know and trust. This is why I take my studio to them, why sittings rarely have set times.

You cannot tell a baby to be happy, you just have to be ready when they are.

And I’m back

It has been a while since my site has been updated. I think it was early last year when I posted something, not really a case of not having work – I have been doing plenty of it – more because Flickr was showing my work.

So now everything has moved over to my site. I’ll be posting work frequently for you to enjoy, so come back and check it out.
